Dave Cuthbert
Assistant Coach
Who Am I
Once upon a time, in the dim and distant past, you could have found me splashing around in the top squad at Dartes or sitting in front of a computer updating the website.
Nowadays I coach Phase 4 (as a hobby would you believe) and can probably still be found spending far too much time in front of a computer updating this website.
While still swimming I represented 4 of Doncaster's clubs over 2 decades (the old Doncaster ASC, Armthorpe Kingfishers, Edlington Stingrays, and Spa Askern) in addition to picking up a few medals on Dartes teams at Yorkshires. I was Head Coach at Edlington for a few years, and played a similar role at Doncaster many years before that. I've been a Coach at Dartes (on and off - usually on) since the late 1990s.
As if that wasn't enough clubs, there was also a 3 year period swimming with City of Salford and a much shorter period training with Rotherham Metro.
Webmaster
In addition to my role as Assistant Coach I also look after this website. I published the first version towards the end of 1998 and it's been growing ever since. There were a few years where Kevin Nicholas and then Cris Lewis took over the reigns (thanks to both) but then I took it back on with a new look and relaunch in 2007.
My vision for this website is to provide as complete a reference to the history of Dartes as possible. At the same time, to celebrate the success of the club as that history unfolds, and to usher in the future. With that in mind, I am always on the look out for photographs or news snippets to help make that history more colourful. This is a place to celebrate the success of Doncaster's swimming community, and Dartes in particular.
Having been involved with the club, on and off, since the late 1980s, I do have a special interest in old photos and news articles. So if you have any, let me at 'em!
Emailing Logbooks
If emailing logbooks, please have a parent or adult send them. ASA guidelines forbid coaches emailing swimmers directly on child protection grounds.
Contact Details
If you need to contact me, email is the most successful option, but you can usually catch me on my mobile too. Please only send photos to my email as my old and crusty mobile can't handle them.
