They Hydro, Harrogate

Josh medal presentation at The Hydro They Hydro The Harrogate Hydro is one of the most popular Short-Course racing pools in Yorkshire. Regarded as a fast 8 lane competition pool, it regularly helps the Harrogate club attract teams from all over the North of England to its meets.

Being located within walking distance (almost) of the bustling town centre gives parents the opportunity for window shopping if the action in the pool gets too exciting. It's also handy for local restaurants and a large collection of hotels and B&Bs.

The Hydro is Harrogate's new (opened April 99), purpose built, competition pool, it offers:

Travelling (Car Park and Directions)

Jarvis and Joe medal presentation at The Hydro The Hydro Generally easy enough to find. Most follow the A1(M) to Wetherby, then the A661 in to the centre of Harrogate. From there, simply navigate the one-way system through the town centre and head out the other side on the A61. Once you're up the hill and back in the residential area, The Hydro is at the bottom of the next hill (not the hill in the town centre - the next one). Just keep an eye open for the Hydro sign post at the traffic lights pointing you down Jennyfield Drive. The entrance to the car park is on your right.

Staying Over?

Harrogate meets often see people taking the excuse to stay over in hotels and B&Bs. Being virtually in the centre of the town your choices are wide and varied, and extremely close to the pool. But being Harrogate, they're often quite expensive! As always, people have their favourites, so expect the smaller establishments to fill up extremely quickly - book early if you're confident your entries to the meet will be accepted.
