Dartes Review of 2003

Below is a quick resume of what DARTES has achieved over the last 12 months from the DARTES Chairman Graham Milnes:

 

January 03 February 03
  • Introduction of the first DARTES newsletter keeping swimmers and feeder clubs informed of any relevant news, achievements, gossip and trivia. Throughout the year 6 such newsletters were published.
  • DARTES entered the Speedo league for the first time in many years, achieving runner up position at the first attempt.
  • Poolside gear purchased for coaches and helpers funded by the club.
  • Doncaster Metropolitan Borough Council in partnership with the Doncaster Metropolitan Amateur Swimming Association (DMASA) announce there intention to appoint a swimming development officer along with a pledge to appoint a funded professional head coach in due course.
  • DARTES introduce formal Circuit Training to their program on a Tuesday night.
March 03 April 03
  • New club Swim Shop introduced including Tracksuits, polo shirts, kit bags as well as Diana costumes sponsored by Diana UK distributors.
  • Major success at the Yorkshires. 50% of DARTES Members competed in Yorkshire finals. DARTES awarded the B&I Trophy for the most improved club in Yorkshire.
  • Free swim caps for DARTES members.
May 03 June 03
  • Extra 1.5 hrs pool time secured at St James's bringing the maximum pool time available now up to 14.75 hrs. Still only £20 per month AB squad.
  • Swim Bench purchased by DARTES for DARTES swimmers
  • DARTES B Grade
July 03 August 03
 
  • Membership reaches 120, the highest in recent years.
  • Success at the nationals with Emily Thackwray, Chantal Aldridge and Lizzy Bevens represent DARTES at the 2003 event.
  • Zoe Clayton competes Nationally and Internationally for the GB deaf squad.
September 03 October 03
 
  • DARTES sponsor the DARTES SKINS Trophy at the DMASA championships. David Holmes (Arm) and Alison Pennal (SAS) win the event.
