Photo Gallery: NER BAGCATS Weekend 1, 2009

The weekend before the plant room flooded at Ponds Forge due to severe weather conditions, round 1 of the North East Regional Swimming Championships took place. We'd got used to a new NQT being recorded at each meet, but this weekend produced a cap full and added two new swimmers to the 2009 National Squad.

The results sheet says it all:
1st. Sophie Taylor (Dartes) 1:15.34
2nd. Emily Vose (CoLeeds) 1:21.12
3rd. Lydia Beeken (RichmondDale) 1:21.16

Total Domination of the North East.
Bring on the rest of the country.

Wait, what's this?

No you're not seeing things, that really is Max picking up a Silver medal having been beaten by a CoSheffield swimmer.

Don't worry though, that's Matthew Johnson in his new guise swimming for our South Yorkshire rivals. Don't you think a darker shade of red would have better suited his complexion?

Maybe even a darker coloured shirt entirely, how about black?

Joe claimed a comfortable Bronze to go with his 100m Backstroke Gold. Jarvis had a crack too and came home with a reputable 8th.

Great swimming boys. You see, 10 year olds really can swim a 200m Fly!

The Sub-60 Heroes!

The under 14s 4x100m Freestyle medalists.
Across all 3 teams (12 boys) only two swimmers weren't under the magical minute.

The fastest: 54.84
The slowest: 1:01.01

Actually, if we include CoLeeds in 4th, only 3 boys out of 16 weren't under the mark!

Scary stuff.
