January started off Olympic year with a bang, with 2 meets on the same weekend. Most of Phase 4 and JDS travelled to Harrogate for the Janus meet, while Phase 5 popped down the M18 for the City of Derby level 1.

There were some big names flexing their muscles poolside at Ponds Forge, Liam Tancock and Rebecca Adlington among them. Obviously the girls (and their mothers) were only interested in one of those big names though.

Two lucky ladies got to meet Liam poolside.   We're reliably informed that Natasha and Shannon weren't the only ones snuggling up to Britain's Backstroke superstar (nor were they the oldest!)   The evidence is clearly out there somewhere, let's be having it ...
Just to balance things out, here's some of the team from Harrogate on Saturday morning.   They look to be in good spirits even before the medals started flooding in. The Arena League body art seems to have flowed over to every meet these days too, which makes meets a little more colourful.

What are Coach Wallace and Coach Dodson staring at?   3. How good are Chloe's streamlined sit-ups (left)? Yeah, yeah, those arms could be a bit tighter, but her back position is excellent.
A January Guess Who? part 2   Any easier to recognise if we zoom in a little?   That's right, it's Marcia Parkinson showing the young guys how skipping should be done. With a small bunch of our parents running the Leeds 10k this year, 1 or 2 more have decided to take up our land training sessions too.   There's another in the pink at the bottom of the sports hall, can you identify who that is?
Who's the scary dude with Gill?   We finally got the opportunity to get Gill's Animal Squad photo, and we found a suitably scary animal to pose with her.
