Long Course Training

As part of City of Sheffield Swim Squad's commitment to promoting performance swimming in South Yorkshire, we've arranged a weekly opportunity for a small group of Dartes athletes to enjoy Long Course training along side their Junior National Squad.

Here's Coach Wallace to tell you all about it.

Long Course Training for Select Group

The Opportunity

We have an opportunity to take part in Long Course training sessions at Sheffield (Ponds Forge).

In creating links with City of Sheffield Swim Squad as the lead performance club in South Yorkshire they have agreed to provide support to DARTES by enabling some of our Elite Swimmers to access Long Course training during Wednesday mornings 5:30-7:30am. Race start at Ponds Forge It has been agreed with Russ Barber (Head Coach, CoSSS) and Mark Lappin (Assistant Head Coach, CoSSS) that swimmers who need to get back for school or have parents who need to be back for work can get out at 7am. But if you can make arrangements to attend for the full 2 hour period it would be more beneficial.

Selected swimmers will train alongside City of Sheffield’s Junior National Squad under the guidance of Mark Lappin and myself.

There is limited space available (initially just 6 spots). I will be choosing swimmers based on recent levels of commitment and perceived capability to move their swimming standards forward with the help of Long Course training. We have 13 swimmers within a close percentage of National Qualifying Times so priority has been placed on consistency of training attendance.

Due to the limited spaces available this offer is subject to certain conditions:

If swimmers wish to continue their Long Course training they MUST attend sessions consistently. I will be issuing a list of swimmers and reserves shortly and confirm the start date for this session.

Regards

Andrew Wallace
