Squad Objectives for Teaspoon
To make sure everyone's attention is focused in the right direction for this weekend's meet (and galas too), we're going to set a number of objectives for you all to familiarise yourselves with before the meet.
Objectives
The squad's objectives for Teaspoon are below. There's stuff we want swimmers doing, and more stuff for the parents too!
Swimmers
Here's what you are going to be asked to do on the day. First of all, be on pool side for 8am sharp for team stretch!
- Fast starts (10m minimum underwater on Back and Fly)
- Maintain high stroke rates (Free, Fly and Back)
- Full team stretching routine with nobody letting the group down by being late or lazy
- Post swim stretching (there is unlikely to be any swim down facility!)
In addition to those points we expect you to make a massive effort to be the most positive team on poolside. This is a fun, fast meet so you need to be up on your feet cheering your team mates all day. Bring plenty to drink because you're going to be using your voices a lot!
Your challenge is to spot at least 1 good thing about every race your team mates compete in and then CONGRATULATE THEM FOR DOING IT! Whether it's your best mate or someone you don't particularly get along with doesn't matter, make the effort to tell them what they've done well - that's what being part of a team is all about.
Let's go over board on making Team Dartes buzz with positivity.
Support Team (Parents)
You're not getting away lightly either!
Meets are fun if there's a good atmosphere. Without a noisy atmosphere they can be a bit dull. Your mission for Sunday is to make as much noise as possible and show all the other teams what support means.
- Make sure you're all sitting together for maximum effect
- Wear team kit if possible
- Shout and cheer all of our swimmers - you'll be amazed how much fun it is
- Bring an air horn (but don't over do it), a trumpet, a toy drum, or even cowbells
- The coaches would be very impressed seeing pom-poms waved around
- Most importantly - Don't Be Shy!
Last year we enjoyed a lot of noisy support from a hardcore group of parents, this year we need to see our younger parents, the newcomers to Dartes, getting involved and helping to generate a top class atmosphere too.
So don't sit in the corner reading a book. Get involved and support the team.
